Jhansi: Uttar Pradesh minister of state (independent charge) for Cooperation, JPS Rathore, hoisted the national flag at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium here on Saturday to mark Independence Day and Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, and called upon the youth to contribute to the country’s economic and social progress.Rathore also flagged off the Heritage Walk Bundelkhand Riders rally organised by the tourism department. Addressing the gathering, he paid tribute to Rani Lakshmibai and the countless freedom fighters whose sacrifices, he said, paved the way for India’s independence in 1947. He urged young people not to fall prey to conspiracies or forces that could weaken the country, but to channel their energy towards nation-building and development.Jhansi-Lalitpur MP Anurag Sharma said the freedom enjoyed today was the result of the lifelong struggles and sacrifices of countless patriots and martyrs. He said strengthening economic and social independence was now a responsibility of the younger generation. He also stressed the importance of unity, harmony, brotherhood and humanity.
