The musician’s band announced that she will not be able to continue with the tour after she received a brain cancer diagnosis.
Jennifer Finch diagnosed with brain cancer
On July 13, the band shared an announcement on their official Instagram page, stating that Finch will no longer be able to join them for their final tour. They confirmed that she was recently diagnosed with brain cancer and now needs extensive medical support at all times.They wrote, “Our beloved bandmate, sister and friend Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Following multiple surgeries and serious complications, Jennifer now requires extensive medical care, rehabilitation and professional in-home support.”The band also shared a link to a funding page, set up by her friends and family to ensure she continues to get the medical treatment and care she deserves. The statement further read that the funds would be used to “help cover these urgent expenses and allow her to remain safely at home with the care, dignity and support she needs.” The band is currently on their final tour titled ‘The Last Hurrah,’ which the group shared had purposely been planned to ensure that all four members would perform on stage and bid adieu to fans together. They concluded their statement by sharing that after dropping out of the tour, Finch requested all of them to complete it without her. They added, “We will honour her request while making her care and well-being our immediate priority. We love her, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years.”On the funding page, the band and her family shared photos of the musician from over the years, along with a snap of her sporting a scar on her head, likely from one of the many surgeries mentioned in their official statement.In the link, they detailed what she has been going through and listed all the things that she would need the money to cover, which included, “Professional in-home nursing care, physical and speech therapy, medical equipment, and other essential care, cover home-care expenses that will allow Jennifer to remain safely and comfortably at home, recoup significant out-of-pocket medical expenses and legal fees, preserve Jennifer’s legacy by creating an archive of her artistic and creative work, completion of a significant creative project that was scheduled for release next year.” The target for the funding page has been set at USD 350 thousand, out of which a total of USD 209 thousand has already been received at the time of writing.

L7 was formed in Los Angeles in 1985 and consisted of guitarist and singer Suzi Gardner, guitarist and singer Donita Sparks, drummer and vocalist Dee Plakas, and Finch as the lead bassist. The group was extremely popular during the 90s and was known as one of the pioneers in the music industry. They stayed active until 2001, when they officially announced their hiatus from group activities.
