Kolkata: The Joint Entrance Examination will be held on May 24. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) said this on Monday while announcing this year’s exam schedule. To maintain transparency, the board has decided to introduce biometric attendance for candidates and enhance frisking before entry into the examination halls. Goutam Paul, chairperson of WBJEEB, said, “We want to strengthen the security system across exam halls.” This is the first time biometric attendance will be introduced for Joint Entrance Examination.This year’s exam has been delayed by a month due to the upcoming assembly polls.Last year, it was held on April 27. In 2024, it was held on April 28, and in 2023, it was held on April 30. Board officials said though the exam has been delayed by a month, it will not affect admission process. “Result publication will not be hit because in previous years, we had to wait for the seat matrix before starting counselling.” Online application will begin on Tuesday and continue till April 5. While maths will be held from 11 am to 1 pm, physics and chemistry from 2 pm to 4 pm.
