Mysuru: JD(S) working president and former minister SR Mahesh on Tuesday claimed that the voters list in KR Nagar Assembly segment was rigged. Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, he raised concerns over the electoral rolls in KR Nagar constituency, claiming that nearly 18,000 voters were untraceable.Mahesh lost the polls in the 2023 assembly polls to Congress’ D Ravishankar.Questioning the Congress party’s opposition to voter list revision, he pointed out that election-related officials function under the state govt. On the present political system, Mahesh said money plays a significant role in elections and said no politician could claim to be completely honest in the current environment.Meanwhile, Mahesh came out strongly in defence of Union minister HD Kumaraswamy over the Ketaganahalli land issue. He said that the land in Bidadi was purchased nearly 40 years ago through a legally valid sale deed and accused the Congress govt of indulging in vindictive politics by handing over the matter to the SIT with the sole intention of tarnishing Kumaraswamy’s image.Meanwhile, JD(S) Mysuru district unit chief and former MLA Ashwin Kumar, MLCs B Vivekananda, and CN Manjegowda condemned KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana for allegedly making personal remarks against JD(S) party’s youth wing chief Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
