Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has started action against more than 1,000 encroachments beneath high-tension power lines along Ajmer Road following directions from the Rajasthan High Court. The enforcement wing has begun issuing notices to owners and occupants, with demolition and eviction expected after the notice period ends.The illegal structures were identified during a survey conducted last week after the court’s order. They are located on the stretches between Heerapura Powerhouse and Narayan Vihar, and between Heerapura Powerhouse and Gajsinghpura in the Prithviraj Nagar South area. Notices are being served under Section 72 of the Jaipur Development Authority Act.Officials said recipients have been asked to remove the encroachments on their own or submit their response within the stipulated period. Those failing to comply will face demolition action by the enforcement department.Enforcement officer Ganga Ram Khawa, who is supervising the drive, said the identified encroachments include both residential and commercial structures. Besides houses, the list includes shops and a few office buildings.“More than 1,000 encroachments have been identified. Once the notice process is completed, demolition will begin. A detailed strategy has been prepared, and police deployment will be sought if required to ensure the operation is carried out smoothly,” Khawa said.The high court observed that constructions beneath high-tension power lines violate safety norms and pose a serious threat to lives and infrastructure. JDA officials said such settlements expose residents to potential electrical hazards and can also affect the power distribution network.“People living under high-tension lines face significant risks. Removing these encroachments is essential to ensure public safety and protect critical power infrastructure,” a JDA official said.
