Nagpur: Janhavi Bawane of Track Star Club clinched a bronze medal in Maharashtra State Open Youth athletics meet at Meenatai Thackeray Stadium, Nashik, on Wednesday.In the women’s 1000 metre race, Nagpur’s Janhavi clocked 3 min. 8.64 sec to register a podium finish, while her teammate Himanshi gave a timing of 3 min. 9.79 sec to finish fourth. Divya Ghodekar and Arya Kalel secured the first and second positions respectively.Among other Nagpur athletes, Darshan Walde of The Sprint Club secured sixth place with a time of 52.52 sec in the boys’ 400 metre event. In the 200 metre race, he secured 12th place with a time of 23.92 sec.In the girls’ category, Ruchita Raut of The Sprint Club finished ninth in the 200 metre race with a timing of 27.92 sec. In the boys’ long jump, Soham More of Lakshavedh Foundation secured fourth place with a leap of 6.40 metres. In the girls’ category, Ankita Chauhan secured seventh place in the long jump with a leap of 4.64 metres.In the boys’ high jump, Shlok Nageshwar Chetule of Lakshavedh Foundation secured sixth place. Rounak Gadhave of KF Foundation secured fourth place in both the 400 metre and 200 metre races. His teammate Rahul Suryavanshi secured sixth place in the 400 metre and eighth place in the 200 metre, informed Sharad Suryavanshi, secretary of the Nagpur District Athletics Association.
