Patna: Jan Suraaj on Friday demanded an SIT probe into the alleged molestation of a girl student at a hotel in Patna, in the presence of her father, officials said.A delegation of the party, led by senior functionaries Kishore Kumar Munna and Lalan Yadav, submitted a memorandum to Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar at the police headquarters.The delegation placed five key demands, including formation of an SIT for an impartial probe, investigation into the role of the hotel management, security for the victim’s family, and a statewide audit of hotel safety.Jan Suraaj members said the incident was not an isolated case but raised serious concerns about the safety of women and students in Bihar.State vice-president Lalan said the victim’s father, a resident of Begusarai, had come to Patna for his daughter’s polytechnic examination and booked a room at a hotel in the Rupsapur police station area for safety.“It is alleged that around 12.45am on May 23, an unidentified youth entered the room after opening the door, molested the student and attempted to forcibly take her outside,” he said.Lalan added that such incidents raise serious questions about security arrangements in the state capital. He demanded a comprehensive security audit of hotels, lodges and guest houses across Patna and Bihar to prevent recurrence of such cases.
