Hyderabad: Telangana govt on Friday appointed senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju as the new chief secretary of the state. A 1992-batch officer, Jaju will succeed incumbent K Ramakrishna Rao, who retires on June 30.Jaju, currently serving as secretary in the Union ministry of development of the north eastern region, was repatriated to his parent Telangana cadre earlier this week at the request of the state govt.The govt has also appointed outgoing chief secretary Ramakrishna Rao as advisor and ex-officio special chief secretary to the chief minister upon his superannuation.Jaju will continue to hold charge of the industries and commerce and IT departments, besides serving as chief executive officer of the Industry and Investment Cell in the CMO. He will also oversee the SPEED initiative, retaining the same portfolio handled by his predecessor.The reshuffle also includes changes among several senior IAS officers.Principal secretary of mines and geology N Sridhar has been inducted into the CMO as principal secretary. V Seshadri, a 1999-batch IAS officer, will continue as principal secretary in the CMO, while special secretary B Ajith Reddy has been transferred as chief executive officer of Invest Telangana in the industries and commerce department.Special chief secretary Sabyasachi Ghosh, who has been handling flagship welfare and corporate social responsibility (CSR) schemes, has been assigned handlooms, textiles and handicrafts department while continuing to oversee tribal welfare.Senior IAS officer Shailaja Ramaiyer has been posted as principal secretary, environment and forests, with additional charge of the endowments department and director general of the Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI).Ahmad Nadeem has been appointed principal secretary in the general administration department, replacing M Raghunandan Rao. He will also hold additional charge as in-charge principal secretary of the minorities welfare department.Rahul Bojja, returning from leave, has been posted as principal secretary, revenue (disaster management), relieving Dasari Harichandana. He will also hold additional charge of the backward classes welfare department.With Sridhar moving to the CMO, M Raghunandan Rao has been given in-charge responsibility for the mines and geology department.In another appointment, Telangana Rythu Discom chairman and MD Mohammad Musharraf Ali Faruqui has been given additional charge as vice-chairman and MD of TG REDCO.
