Jaipur: A 34-year-old Jaipur man died by suicide after allegedly being blackmailed by a neighbour over an obscene video, police said. A case of abetment to suicide has been registered against the woman and her husband.The deceased, Rajendra Chaudhary, lived in Mukesh Nagar in Jawahar Nagar and worked at a saree shop near Sanganeri Gate. Police said he had allegedly been in an extramarital relationship with the woman for nearly two years.According to the FIR lodged by his wife, Lakshmi Chaudhary, Rajendra left home around 4.30pm on Aug 29 with ₹8 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewellery. He allegedly told her that the woman and her husband had been threatening him and that he was going to hand over the money and jewellery to settle the matter.A police officer, citing the FIR, said Lakshmi alleged that the woman had recorded an obscene video of Rajendra and was using it to blackmail him. “The woman had allegedly taken a substantial amount of money and jewellery from him over the past two years but continued to demand more,” the officer said.Police from Shiprapath police station were alerted on Aug 30 after Rajendra’s body was found on the railway tracks near Fun Kingdom in Mansarovar. A police team and forensic experts examined the spot and sent the body to Jaipuria Hospital for postmortem.Lakshmi alleged that she had caught her husband and the woman together some years ago, after which the woman and her husband began blackmailing him. “The accused woman said she had an obscene video of Chaudhary and was threatening to make it public,” the officer said.Lakshmi told police her last conversation with Rajendra was on a video call around 10.30pm on Aug 29. She said he was crying and told her, “My mind is not working,” before switching off his phone.Rajendra’s Activa scooter was later found parked at Durgapura railway station, about five kilometres from where his body was recovered. Police said the accused couple allegedly locked their house and fled after learning of his death. Investigation is underway.
