Dipke confirmed the plan in a brief post on X on Monday. “Jail Bharo Andolan in Mumbai. October 2, Shivaji Park. #SaveDemocracy”
The announcement follows Dipke’s statement on Sunday, when he had warned that CJP would launch the agitation if it was not allowed to hold its planned Gandhi Jayanti protest.
“Mumbai Police has also denied permission for our protest on 2nd October. Such tactics to suppress citizens’ voices are unacceptable. If we are denied the right to protest, CJP will launch a Jail Bharo Andolan in Mumbai on Gandhi Jayanti,” he said.

Mumbai Police has said it is not empowered to grant permission for a gathering at Shivaji Park under existing court directions and government guidelines. Police also said the organisers had been advised to look for an alternative venue in Mumbai where their application for a protest could be considered.
The October 2 demonstration is part of CJP’s campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission of India. The outfit had earlier announced plans to begin a nationwide agitation from Mumbai if Kumar did not resign.
CJP has raised three principal demands: Kumar’s resignation and initiation of criminal proceedings against him, a freeze on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and restoration of the January 2025 voter list, and repeal of the 2023 law governing the appointment of election commissioners along with broader reforms to the poll body.
