Hyderabad: Telangana Congress working president T Jagga Reddy has urged the party high command to allot the two soon-to-be-vacant Rajya Sabha seats from Telangana to senior Congress leaders V Hanumanth Rao and Jetti Kusuma Kumar. After meeting AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi, he stressed that both leaders deserved consideration — Kusuma Kumar for his work in the Youth Congress and Hanumanth Rao for his long administrative and political experience. As lobbying gathered pace, several party leaders began backing different names, saying that loyalty and decades of service to the organisation should be rewarded. Leaders close to Jagga Reddy argued that veteran figures who stood by the party through difficult periods should be prioritised for nomination. Some leaders said senior leader A Shyam Mohan, deputy chairman of the TPCC disciplinary committee, should be given the MP seat, given his six decades of association with the party.
