Srinagar, Aug 12: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with brief intense and heavy showers likely at some locations.
According to the latest weather update, Poonch recorded the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours at 53 mm, followed by Pulwama at 57.5 mm, Awantipora at 47.8 mm, and Rajouri at 44 mm.
For August 12, the Meteorological Centre has predicted spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places, with brief intense heavy showers possible in a few districts during the afternoon and evening.
From August 13 to 15, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at many places, with brief intense showers possible at a few locations during the early morning, morning and late afternoon/evening hours.
The weather is expected to remain unsettled from August 16 to 19, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places. Heavy rain or brief intense heavy showers are likely in a few districts, particularly during the early morning and afternoon hours.
From August 20 to 22, light rain and thundershowers are likely at scattered places.
The Meteorological Centre has also issued an advisory regarding the possibility of heavy rain and brief intense heavy showers in a few districts of Jammu Division between August 16 and 19, while similar brief intense showers may occur in one or two districts of Kashmir Division.
It warned that torrential rain and brief intense heavy showers could trigger flash floods, landslides and mudslides, urging people to remain cautious, particularly in vulnerable and hilly areas.
