Srinagar, June 27: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast generally dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir during the day over the next three days, with the possibility of light rain, brief thundershowers and gusty winds at scattered places during late afternoon and evening hours.
According to the forecast, pre-monsoon showers are also likely in the plains of Jammu and adjoining areas, mainly during late night and early morning hours from June 27 to 29.
The weather department said a fresh spell of light to moderate rain and thundershowers is expected at many places across J&K from June 30 to July 5, with brief intense heavy showers, thunder and gusty winds likely at a few locations.
Issuing an advisory, the MET Centre urged people to stay away from loose structures, electric poles, overhead wires and old trees during thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds. Authorities have also advised suspension of boating and Shikara activities during adverse weather conditions.
The department warned of a possibility of hailstorms at isolated places during late afternoon hours and said brief intense showers may trigger flash floods, landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas.
Residents have also been advised to avoid nallas, streams and landslide-prone areas, while temporary waterlogging may occur in some low-lying areas from June 30 onwards.
