Shubhang Hegde enjoyed a memorable campaign at the 2026 DACCS Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, both as Bengaluru Blasters captain and as an all-rounder.
Despite suffering a loss in the final against Shivamogga Yodhas, Shubhang led the team to an impressive 9-1 winning record in the league stage.
Commenting on the final, Shubhang stated, “we lost one wicket too many in the Powerplay, and because of that we weren’t able to accelerate in the middle overs”.
Shubhang also credited Luvnith Sisodia’s match-winning 87 and pacer G. Naveen’s economical spell for the Yodhas’ victory.
Shubhang viewed his first full season as captain as a rewarding experience. “The added responsibility gets the best out of me. Whenever I’ve captained, I tend to perform well,” he said.
The 25-year-old had a good tournament with bat and ball, scoring 271 runs and scalping 14 wickets with his left-arm spin.
Long viewed as primarily a bowling all-rounder, Shubhang credited his stint in club cricket with Cambridge CC as important in boosting his confidence with the bat.
With T20 franchise leagues like the Maharaja Trophy becoming increasingly popular, Shubhang asserted their importance in terms providing increased visibility for scouting, especially among IPL teams.
Shubhang’s next goal is clear. “The ultimate goal is to play all three formats for the Karnataka State team and perform well. I want to play a higher grade of cricket, regardless of the format,” he said.
