Breakfast is supposed to be a pretty simple affair. You order your food, have a coffee and get on with your day.But one breakfast in Gurugram took a very different turn when a diner noticed something moving inside his food.It was a live worm crawling over the meat in a partly eaten sandwich. The diner filmed what he found and shared the video on Instagram. It has since left viewers grossed out, with many asking how something like this could possibly have made it from a restaurant kitchen to someone’s plate.
‘We were horrified’
Instagram user Sulabh Mathur said the incident happened at Paul’s at Horizon Centre in Gurugram, where he had gone for breakfast at around 11 am.His group had ordered six or seven dishes and were eating when they spotted the worm.Mathur then recorded the food, capturing the tiny worm moving across the meat in the sandwich.“Shocking incident at Paul’s, Horizon Centre in Gurugram today!” he wrote while sharing the video.ID@undefined Caption not available.ID@undefined Caption not available.ID@undefined Caption not available. He said the group was “horrified” by what they had found and questioned the hygiene standards at the restaurant.“Extremely disturbing and concerning. Food hygiene is compromised,” Mathur wrote, urging people to be more careful about what they are served.
The video has left people seriously grossed out
The clip has reportedly crossed 1.3 million views, and the reaction has been predictably strong. For many viewers, the biggest question was simple: How did a live worm end up in the food in the first place? Some questioned the restaurant’s food preparation and handling practices. Others said the video was enough to make them reconsider dining there. And the fact that the alleged incident happened at an upscale restaurant made the reaction even stronger. When people sit down for a meal at a high-end establishment, they expect the basics – clean food, clean kitchens and proper hygiene.A live worm in a sandwich is about as far from that expectation as it gets. The video has now put the spotlight on the restaurant, while also reminding diners of something rather unpleasant: sometimes, you really do need to look closely at what’s on your plate.
