Kanpur: Intermittent rains and light drizzle brought relief from sultry weather conditions in the city on Tuesday, with the maximum temperature dropping by nearly 2°C. The overcast skies and cool weather gave citizens a pleasant respite from the prevailing humidity.Cloud cover prevailed over the city since morning, while intermittent light drizzle began in the afternoon. With the sun remaining largely absent, residents enjoyed the relatively pleasant weather.The weather observatory at CSA University recorded a maximum temperature of 30.2°C and a minimum of 25.8°C on Tuesday. The maximum and minimum relative humidity were recorded at 94% and 91%, respectively.According to S N Sunil Pandey, weather expert at CSA University, the city received an average of 2 mm of rainfall in the evening amid high humidity.He said the rainfall brought down the night temperature and predicted moderate rain in the late evening, which could continue until morning.Pandey said that over the next five days, partly to heavily cloudy skies are expected, with light to moderate rain likely at several places. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a strong possibility of thunderstorms and rain in the Kanpur metropolitan area over the next 24 hours. Under the influence of active monsoon conditions, the sky is likely to remain predominantly overcast, with intermittent showers.Rainfall is also likely to keep the city’s air quality in the ‘Satisfactory to Moderate’ category, providing some relief from pollution.
