Kanpur: An inter college in Saurikh area of Kannauj district received a threat to blow up the institute with RDX after its operator received a threatening letter sent through registered post, police said on Wednesday.The letter also threatened to kill the college operator, Kuldeep Yadav, and his son, prompting him to lodge a complaint with the police. Kuldeep Yadav, a resident of Ijalpur village under Saurikh police station, runs Sheela Devi Satya Veer Singh Inter College located on Saurikh–Mainpuri Road.

According to the complaint, the registered letter threatened to blow up the college using RDX and to shoot Kuldeep Yadav and his son, causing panic among the family members. Kuldeep Yadav handed over a copy of the threatening letter to the police and sought immediate action. Police said the letter was dispatched from Sarai Meera in Kannauj on Feb 3, 2026 and discrepancies related to the sender’s details are being examined as part of the investigation. Saurikh police station in-charge Jayanti Prasad Gangwar said the complaint had been received and an inquiry was underway. There was a possibility that someone from the village may have sent the letter using a fake name and address, he added. The station in-charge also noted that Kuldeep Yadav’s wife is currently the village pradhan. Police said further action would be taken after verification and investigation. tnn
