Industry leaders at a closed-door CXO roundtable emphasised the need for closer coordination between industry and government, solution-oriented policymaking, and ecosystem-led growth to realise India’s long-term manufacturing and economic ambitions.
Speaking on the sidelines of the JSA Boardroom Connect — Pune Edition, Venkatesh R. Prasad, Partner, JSA Advocates & Solicitors, said, “The roundtable was first and foremost curated nicely by the ET team and this was a good opportunity from the industry, from brining the senior people from the industry to talk about some of the issues that they face, some of the regulatory challenges that they encounter.” He noted that the discussions went beyond problem statements and focused on actionable outcomes. “And overall, it was a more solution-driven discussion as to what could be some of the solutions that not just at the industry level, but also at the government level, the decision makers and the policymakers can think about.”
Highlighting the broader national context, Prasad underscored the importance of alignment between stakeholders to achieve India’s development goals. “While implementing their policies, because if Viksit Bharat 2047 has to occur, then it is the industry and the government that needs to work in tandem and not at cross-purposes, and all.”
He added that addressing core challenges facing businesses has become increasingly critical. “And therefore it becomes very important and critical to take care of some of the most important issues that are confronting the industry, whether that be the technology intervention, whether that be the manpower, HR issues being faced.”
Pointing to Pune’s growing significance, Prasad said innovation and regional ecosystems would play a decisive role in India’s future growth. “Most importantly, the innovation aspects, which needs to be dealt with the industry. Pune is emerging as a very critical hub, and it is going to be a pivot for some of the most important industrial and also service-driven economy that India is going to be seeing.”
He stressed that policy support must extend beyond fiscal incentives. “And in that respect, both the state and the central government will have to work to create an ecosystem which is just not incentive-driven, but it is basically an ecosystem which ensures the realization of this fixed authority.”
The closed-door CXO roundtable titled, “Scaling and Enabling India’s Advanced Manufacturing & Industrial Ecosystem: Innovation, Sustainability, and Global Competitiveness,” organised by ETCFO and ETLegalWorld, in association with JSA Advocates & Solicitors, brought together senior leaders from the manufacturing, technology, legal, and finance domains
