Jhunjhunu: A dispute at the Matru Evam Shishu Chikitsalay (MCH) in Neem ka Thana of Sikar district Monday, after the family of a pregnant woman alleged that the foetus was missing when she reached a hospital in Jaipur following her referral from the facility. The hospital administration formed a four-member inquiry committee to investigate the allegations.The family said Kiran, a resident of Kotda village, was admitted to MCH on July 19 with abdominal pain and heavy bleeding. Her husband, Dalip Kumar, alleged that her condition was stable on arrival but deteriorated during treatment. Kumar claimed doctors in Jaipur later told the family there was no foetus in her womb. The family alleged the miscarriage occurred at MCH and said they were neither informed nor told what happened to the foetus.Kiran’s father-in-law, Omprakash, submitted a complaint to the sub-divisional officer, seeking an impartial inquiry and action against those responsible.Hospital authorities denied the allegations. District hospital’s principal medical officer Kamal Singh Shekhawat said neither a delivery nor a miscarriage occurred at MCH. Shekhawat said CCTV footage showed the woman remained at the facility for less than 30 minutes and was accompanied by family members throughout.The hospital administration said a month-old sonography report recorded congenital abnormalities in the foetus and indicated a pregnancy of around 28 weeks. Gynecologist Khatana said the patient was referred to a higher centre due to excessive bleeding.After Dalip submitted a written complaint, the hospital constituted a four-member committee to investigate. Shekhawat said the inquiry would determine whether a miscarriage occurred at the hospital, during transit, or after the patient reached Jaipur, and that CCTV footage was being examined. He said action would be taken as per rules if negligence is established.MCH in-charge GS Chhapola said there appeared to be confusion among family members about the miscarriage, adding that police and the health department were also examining the matter and that the sequence of events would be clearer after the inquiry is completed.
