A man suspected of knocking a woman into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge was found dead by his brother-in-law after failing to attend a family meal as planned, his inquest has heard.
Nicholas Brandram, 44, was discovered at his home in Chiswick on the evening of 15 September, West London Coroner’s Court was told.
He had been arrested in June on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm in relation to the incident of May 2017, when a woman was shoved into the road by a jogger.
Opening and adjourning the inquest, West London coroner Melanie Lee said she had been told of a referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct and was suspending the inquest pending the outcome of its inquiry.
She offered her “sincere condolences” to Brandram’s family, in particular his sisters Sophie and Alexia who were at the hearing.
The former Army officer was released under investigation by the Met Police after his arrest on 15 June.
His family have insisted he was not the jogger and blamed the force for his death.
