Chennai: A 27-year-old man was arrested for strangling his father to death following a quarrel at their house in Vandalur on Wednesday night. The deceased, Perumal, 51, was a roadside vendor from Otteri in Vandalur. Police said that his son Ajith Kumar had returned home inebriated at around 11pm. When an argument broke out between the duo, Ajith strangled his father to death using a towel. He later called his mother, who was staying at her daughter’s house in Maduravoyal, and isaid Perumal had suddenly collapsed. However, a 108 ambulance team that reached the spot suspected foul play and alerted the police.Vandalur Otteri police rushed to the scene, and during questioning, Ajith Kumar confessed to the crime. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
