Surat: A blood donation camp organised for thalassaemia-affected children in Pandesara collected 1,206 units of blood, with participation from industrial workers, entrepreneurs, police personnel and social leaders as part of Ganeshotsav celebrations.The camp was organised by Pandesara Industrial Association (PIA) and the Surat City Police Zone 4 team at Udhyog Bharti Vidyalaya.The owners of industrial units in Pandesara GIDC, along with other entrepreneurs, employees, police personnel and social leaders, took part in the drive. A total of 1,206 units of blood were collected at the event.PIA president Kamalvijay Tulsiyan said blood donation for thalassaemia patients is a vital humanitarian effort and credited the strong participation of local industry workers for the success of the camp.Several blood banks supported the initiative. All donors were presented certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contribution.Ten thalassaemia-affected children were felicitated with gifts during the programme. Guests were also presented tulsi saplings as “green gifts” to promote environmental awareness.
