International Centre for Automotive Technology issued its first compliance certificate for a 15-metre multi-axle sleeper bus

GURGAON: The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) has issued its first compliance certificate for a 15-metre multi-axle sleeper bus, marking a significant development in the testing and certification of advanced long-distance passenger vehicles.The certificate, issued under AIS-119 and AIS-153 in accordance with applicable provisions of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), was awarded to Synaty Automotive Pvt Ltd for its 15-metre multi-axle sleeper bus.The certificate was handed over by ICAT director Saurabh Dalela to Synaty Automotive managing director Naresh Kumar Yadav in the presence of senior officials of the automotive testing agency.The vehicle has been developed for long-distance passenger transport and incorporates features aimed at structural strength, emergency and fire safety, passenger movement and travel comfort.According to ICAT, the bus has been tested and certified against applicable requirements relating to vehicle safety, structural integrity and passenger accommodation.The fully sleeper variant has a capacity of 42 berths, while the hybrid sleeper configuration can accommodate 21 berths and 42 seats.Dalela said the certification demonstrated ICAT’s technical capability to test and certify advanced passenger vehicle configurations while ensuring compliance with prescribed safety and regulatory requirements.The certification is also significant as the 15-metre configuration is among the longest permissible bus body configurations in the passenger transport category, according to ICAT.Yadav said the certification would strengthen the company’s efforts to develop safe, reliable and comfortable solutions for long-distance passenger transportation.ICAT provides testing, certification and homologation services to the automotive industry and said the certification was part of its efforts to support development of safer and compliant passenger transport vehicles.
