Nagpur: Describing a world increasingly fractured by the West Asia conflict, RSS sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said India carries a moral responsibility to restore balance through its civilisational values, asserting that enduring solutions to global unrest lie in a worldview that emphasises unity over division.“For 2,000 years the world has experimented with various ideas to resolve conflicts with little success. Only India can bring to an end ongoing conflict and several countries recognise India’s role in promoting peace. Wars are driven by selfishness and the struggle for dominance and in this backdrop, stabilising the world is India’s moral duty,” he said.Speaking at a foundation ceremony of Vishwa Hindu Parishad‘s (VHP) regional office here, Bhagwat argued prevailing global conflicts stem from a flawed perception that humanity is fragmented.Sant Trilokdarshan Das Maharaj of Sachchidanand Nanak Dham, Ghaziabad; Peethadishwar Jitendranath Maharaj of Devnath Math; VHP central organisation general secretary Milind Parande; noted entrepreneur Anantkumar Bansal; RSS provincial sanghchalak Deepak Tamshettiwar; and VHP provincial president Sudarshan Shendeshar shared the dais.“If we believe the world is merely material and disconnected, then self-interest becomes primary,” he said, noting such thinking has fuelled centuries of conflict, intolerance, and attempts to impose beliefs on others. He contrasted this with India’s philosophical tradition, which he said teaches that all beings are interconnected. “We have inherited the understanding that all are one and connected. Therefore, conflict has no meaning; harmony does,” he said, adding even modern science is gradually moving towards similar conclusions.The RSS chief emphasised that this worldview must be demonstrated through conduct, not discourse. “Dharma does not live in books, it is expressed through conduct,” he said, calling for a socially organised and disciplined society capable of embodying these values.He stressed that moral authority must be supported by strength. “For words to have impact, there must be power and example behind them,” he said, warning that without collective discipline, even correct ideas fail to influence.Referring to global patterns of conflict, Bhagwat said, “The world still follows the law of the jungle — survival of the fittest. But India believes in the law of humanity.” He added that lasting peace requires a shift towards cooperation and shared well-being, arguing that “no one can truly be happy until all are.”Bhagwat said India’s rise is intrinsically linked to its adherence to these principles. “When we align with this duty, progress follows. When we forget it, decline begins,” he said, linking historical setbacks to a loss of civilisational focus.The RSS head added that global thinkers are increasingly acknowledging India’s potential role in resolving conflicts. “There is a growing belief that India can help end ongoing conflicts because it understands this principle of unity,” he said.
