Pune: State Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal on Wednesday said the INDIA bloc would collectively take a decision on the delimitation bill amid speculations that some opposition parties were planning to support it in the monsoon session of Parliament.BJP-led NDA is trying to gather more support in favour of the bill ahead of the upcoming session. The INDIA bloc had shown unity in the last session and defeated the bill. This time also, Sapkal said, a similar unity would be witnessed in Parliament despite the speculations that some parties from the opposition might support the bill if the provision of increasing the number of seats in the Lok Sabha by 50% in all the states was introduced in it.Sapkal said, “If the bill is reintroduced in Parliament, all points mentioned in the bill will come up for discussion at the INDIA bloc. After deliberating on its every aspect, the opposition alliance will announce its stand on it.”As far as Congress’ stand on the bill is concerned, Sapkal said the party seniors would take the decision at the national-level. “Our party’s stand will be in alignment with INDIA bloc partners. Our party believes in democracy and we will continue to fight to protect the rights of every state,” Sapkal said.
