Thapar Gallery presents Sarah Staton’s India Edition SupaStore x Thapar at Bikaner House, a unique project blending a shop and exhibition.

Thapar Gallery is presenting India Edition SupaStore x Thapar, a site-specific project by London-based artist Sarah Staton, at Bikaner House. The exhibition is part of the India Art Fair Parallel Show 2026. SupaStore is a travelling, event-based artwork conceived by Staton. Designed as a hybrid between a shop and an exhibition, it has been hosted in museums, galleries and project spaces around the world. For its India edition, the project is housed inside a sculptural kiosk created specifically for Bikaner House. Within this space, works by artists Gigi Scaria, Mithu Sen, Raaj Rufaro and Vibha Galhotra are on display. The format invites viewers to think about how art is shown, exchanged and experienced. SupaStore also reflects on shopping and branding as markers of identity in contemporary society, exploring how markets function as social spaces for connection and interaction. Commenting on the presentation, Ashish Thapar, Director of Thapar Gallery, said, “SupaStore resonates deeply with our interest in artistic practices that question systems of value, exchange, and display, while allowing for a more intimate and participatory way of encountering art. Sarah Staton’s work invites audiences to engage with art as a lived, social experience, and presenting the India Edition of SupaStore for the first time at Bikaner House as part of the India Art Fair Parallel Show is an important moment for us.” Curated by Jasone Miranda-Bilbao and Vaibhav Raj Shah, the project marks SupaStore’s first presentation in India.
