Pune: NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule on Tuesday said the Union govt’s inconsistent export policy triggered the price hike of essential commodities like onion, rice and sugar.Supriya said middle-class families were facing financial burden after prices of essential commodities increased drastically in the past 15 days. “Along with onion, rice and sugar, prices of almost all essentials have gone up and citizens are facing the heat. While the common man is facing the brunt of inflation, the Centre is not taking any steps to provide relief to them,” Supriya told reporters in Delhi.She blamed the export policy of the Union govt for the current price surge of commodities. Supriya said, “The Centre has been consistently inconsistent in terms of export policy. Besides the common man, farmers are facing losses because of the flawed export policy. There is no coordination between the commerce and agriculture ministries. It has led to the price hike.”She said, “India will not be seen as a steady supplier in world trade because of the inconsistent export policy. The Centre needs to pay more attention to the issue.”Besides the export policy, Supriya accused the Centre of being inconsistent with the foreign policy. She said, “The opposition has been expressing concern over the foreign policy. We need to introspect about our relations with our neighbouring countries. We had good relations with the US, but now we are facing the issue of high tariffs. The relationship with China is also a matter of concern.”She said, “There is a growing instability amid wars in different parts of the world. Our economy is not insulated. Its impact is visible on the country’s economy.”
