Gurgaon: A city trader has accused businessman-turned-politician Naveen Goyal of being behind a violent assault meant to terrorise him into shutting his factory, an allegation the former Independent Assembly candidate has flatly denied, saying he was in Lucknow at the time and had “no involvement” in the incident. On May 2, an FIR was registered at Sector-10 police station on the complaint of Praveen Aggarwal, a Sector 14 resident who runs PRK Scaffolding in Saraswati Enclave on Pataudi Road. The FIR invokes sections 115, 333, 324(4) and 3(5) of the BNS, covering voluntarily causing hurt, house trespass with prior preparation to cause hurt, assault or wrongful restraint, mischief, and acts done by several persons with a common intention.Aggarwal alleged that on April 20, between 6.30pm and 7pm, he was driving home from his factory when a biker deliberately rammed the rear of his car near Shankar Murti opposite Boxer petrol pump. When he lowered the window, the biker allegedly began abusing him and several men quickly surrounded the vehicle.According to the complaint, the men dragged him out and rained kicks, punches and sticks on him. He said he fell to the ground and pleaded with them to spare him. During the assault, one attacker allegedly warned him to shut his factory and apologise to Naveen Goyal, Deepak Goyal and Satish Tayal, or be killed within days, calling the beating “just a warning”.Aggarwal also claimed one assailant told him the same group had got one of his employees attacked around three months earlier. He further alleged the attackers smashed his mobile phone and that the assault left him with injuries, trauma and repeated hospital visits. He told police he feared for his life and his family’s safety.Police said the complaint was first received on April 22 and CCTV footage was checked before the FIR was lodged. They said the footage did not show evidence that the accused were armed, though further legal action would follow if such evidence emerged. No arrests have been announced. The case is being probed by ASI Devender.Goyal, who contested the 2024 Gurgaon Assembly polls as an Independent after being denied a BJP ticket, dismissed the allegations. “I have no enmity with anyone. The allegations are baseless,” he said.
