Ranchi: The Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning activities along with wind speed up to 40-50 kmph in isolated places across the state, including Ranchi, from Thursday to Aug 3.Ranchi IMD head Baburaj P P said, “The maximum temperature is likely to rise by 2-3°C across the state from Friday till Sunday.Rain spells at various locations relieved residents from the heat. Ranchi and Bokaro recorded 1 mm rainfall, Chaibasa 11 mm, Deoghar 2.5 mm, Lohardaga 1.5 mm, Simdega, Saraikela, Koderma 0.5 mm rain, besides Baharagora in East Singhbhum recorded 29 mm, the highest rainfall in state on Thursday.The met department, issuing an extended range forecast on Thursday, predicted that the state is likely to receive normal to above normal rainfall from July 31 till Aug 13.Ranchi on Thursday recorded a maximum temperature of 30°C, Jamshedpur 32.6°C, Daltonganj 33°C, Bokaro 31.5°C, Chaibasa 32.8°C, and Saraikela 34°C, the highest maximum temperature in the state.“The maximum temperature is likely to be in the range of 27-34 °C from July 31 to Aug 6, thereafter it will be in range of 26-33°C from Aug 7 to Aug 13,” the department added.Notably, nine districts received normal rainfall, 13 districts deficient rainfall, while Garhwa and Chatra received large deficient rainfall in the state from June 1 till July 30. Cumulatively, seasonal rainfall was deficient by 25% in the state during the period.
