Hazaribag: Police seized an illegally stocked dump of nearly 10,000 cubic feet of sand, equivalent to around 100 tractor-loads, from a village under Tandwa police station limits in Chatra district on Wednesday.Acting on a tip-off, Tandwa circle officer Gaurav Rai raided Chauda village along with teams from Tandwa and Piparwar police stations.“Sand was being illegally excavated and stored in the village despite the annual ban on river sand mining from June 10 to October 15, in accordance with National Green Tribunal directives,” Rai said.“Efforts are underway to identify those responsible and initiate legal proceedings,” he added. Officials said the administration seized the entire stock.
