Ranchi: IIT(ISM), Dhanbad, has signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt Ltd and HYREVEAL of Rueil-Malmaison, France, to collaborate on assessing geologic hydrogen potential and developing catalysts for stimulated hydrogen production. The MoU will initially be in force for 24 months, the institute said in a statement on Saturday. The collaboration will focus on assessing hydrogen potential, studying rock alteration and developing catalysts to enhance hydrogen production. The research will involve evaluating hydrogen generation potential using mineralogical data and in-situ conditions, analysing rock samples under conditions conducive to hydrogen generation, and identifying suitable catalysts. The partners will also identify prospective regions for expanding the project.Under the agreement, ACME will provide rock samples and fund the study, while IIT(ISM) will contribute its expertise in natural hydrogen, oil and natural gas, and reservoir modelling. The institute will assess hydrogen resources, identify suitable catalysts and evaluate their feasibility for stimulated hydrogen production.
