Patna: IIT-Patna BTech in engineering physics student Deepak Nagar has brought international recognition to the institute by winning a bronze medal in the senior+ category at the Junior Mental Calculation World Championship held recently in Germany.The championship drew around 100 top mental calculators from more than 24 countries. Representing India, Nagar demonstrated exceptional numerical ability to secure a place on the global podium.His achievement was further highlighted by his selection as an international trainer for the championship. Drawing on his previous accomplishments in mental mathematics, he conducted two-day workshops for young participants from different countries.Nagar shared the training platform with internationally acclaimed mental calculation experts and world-record holders, including Willem Bouman, popularly known as the ‘King of Primes’, George Lane and Daniel Timms.The department of physics hailed Nagar’s success as a competitor and educator, describing it as a reflection of the diverse talent nurtured at IIT-Patna. The institute had extended financial and other necessary support to facilitate his participation in the international event.IIT-Patna congratulated Nagar on his double achievement and expressed confidence in his future accomplishments. His success has placed the institute’s student talent in the international spotlight.
