Chennai: The Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI (WSAI) and the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE) at IIT Madras will organise a three-day national workshop on systems biology, metabolic engineering and constraint-based modelling from September 16 to 18.
Titled ‘Metabolic Modelling – From Pathways to Predictions’, the workshop will be held in person at the IIT Madras campus and is open to final-year undergraduate students, postgraduate students, researchers, faculty members and industry professionals with a background in or interest in biology and metabolic modelling.
The deadline to apply is September 4, 2026.
The workshop will combine lectures with hands-on training. Participants will work with tools such as COBRApy to analyse and interpret metabolic models of individual organisms and microbial communities.
The programme will cover concepts related to systems biology, metabolic engineering and constraint-based modelling, with a focus on applying computational approaches to biological systems.
Prof Karthik Raman of WSAI, IIT Madras, and Dr Meiyappan Lakshmanan, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras, are convening the workshop.
Sessions will be conducted by faculty members, postdoctoral researchers and PhD students from the Centre for Integrative Biology and Systems Medicine (IBSE) and WSAI at IIT Madras.
Applicants will be shortlisted based on their statement of purpose, educational background and relevance of their academic or professional interests to the workshop.
