Lucknow: The department of panchayati raj on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur to provide leadership and management training for panchayat representatives.The MoU was signed in the presence of panchayati raj minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, principal secretary Anil Singh and director of panchayati raj Amit Kumar Singh. The objective is to equip panchayat representatives with essential leadership qualities and management skills that can help them contribute effectively to local development. Under this initiative, IIT Kanpur will organise a 5-day training programme for about 500 panchayat representatives across the state. The curriculum will be divided into five modules– good governance and leadership development; planning and resource management; digital tools and e-governance; financial management and budgeting; community participation and conflict resolution. Upon successful completion of training, participants will be awarded certificates by IIT Kanpur. Rajbhar said panchayat representatives ,who earlier went to other states for such training, will now receive high-quality training in UP itself. This will ensure their participation in state’s development.
