tnnKanpur:The Kotak School of Sustainability (KSS) at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur hosted a lecture, titled ‘A Playbook for Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Resilience – The Tamil Nadu Story’, which examined Tamil Nadu’s experience in translating environmental priorities into action across ecosystem restoration, wildlife conservation, wetland and coastal protection, and climate resilience. The lecture was delivered by Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner, Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute, Govt of Tamil Nadu, Supriya Sahu who shared insights from Tamil Nadu’s experience in designing and implementing conservation and climate-resilience initiatives. The discussion focused on how science, governance, technology, community participation and cross-sector collaboration can come together to address environmental challenges while also supporting livelihoods and resilient communities.A key focus of the discussion was the role of mission-driven programmes and evidence-based policymaking in moving from environmental policy to implementation. The lecture also explored how community-led conservation, scientific evidence, technology and institutional innovation can help develop approaches that protect biodiversity while remaining responsive to local needs.
