Mumbai: IIT Bombay has launched an e-Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CS & AI), expanding its existing computer science curriculum with a greater focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The programme, offered through IIT Bombay Educational Outreach, has been designed and will be delivered by IIT Bombay faculty, with Great Learning as the EdTech partner. It combines online synchronous and asynchronous learning with an in-person campus immersion at IIT Bombay.
The one-year programme requires learners to complete six courses, with at least two courses each from the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning baskets. Students can also take up to three years to complete the programme.
The AI and machine learning curriculum covers Generative AI, large language models, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), MCP, reinforcement learning, computer vision, natural language processing and deep learning.
The computer science component includes algorithms and complexity, blockchain, web and software security, cryptography and network security, and big data system internals.
The programme is aimed at software developers and engineers, IT professionals, data scientists and fresh graduates with basic computer science knowledge. Successful learners will receive IIT Bombay e-alumni status.
Prof Vinay J. Ribeiro, e-PGD (CS & AI) Faculty Coordinator, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Bombay, said the programme is intended to give learners a foundational understanding of both computer science and AI rather than only familiarity with AI tools.
Great Learning founder and CEO Mohan Lakhamraju said the programme seeks to combine computer science foundations with the technical depth required to develop and deploy reliable and scalable AI systems.
