Prayagraj: The Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIITA) has signed an MoU with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and its subsidiary STPINEXT Initiatives to establish a Centre of Entrepreneurship (CoE) in assistive technology in Prayagraj.This initiative aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem to support startups and innovators working in the field of assistive technologies—solutions that enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities, the elderly and individuals with special needs.The proposed CoE will focus on research, development, mentoring, funding support, testing and go-to-market strategies to empower emerging ventures. IIITA, with its strong academic and research capabilities, will play a key role in driving innovation and providing technical mentorship. STPI and STPINEXT will bring their extensive experience in promoting IT and startup infrastructure, offering a structured framework for growth, incubation and commercialisation.“This partnership is a strategic step towards promoting inclusive innovation. Through this CoE, we aim to bridge the technological gaps and develop solutions that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” IIITA director Prof Mukul Sharad Sutaone said.The new CoE is expected to act as a catalyst for transforming Prayagraj into a hub of assistive technology innovation, encouraging social entrepreneurship and technology-driven solutions with national and global impact.Praveen Dwivedi from STPI, under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, govt of India, said STPI is working at the forefront of bringing entrepreneurial revolution, startup, and innovation and becomes a key driver for several of the flagship programmes of the govt of India.
