Hyderabad: The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-H) and Hexagon R&D India have partnered to set up Hexagon digital twin centre of excellence at the premier institute, with an eye on advancing applied research, education and industry collaboration in artificial intelligence-led computer vision, spatial computing and digital twins.The centre will give IIIT-H students, faculty and researchers access to Hexagon’s Leica BLK360 G2 precision imaging laser scanner and related software, enabling creation of high-fidelity digital twins.The CoE will support prototypes, proofs of concept and solutions for industry challenges, while helping researchers work with industry-grade technologies and datasets.IIIT Hyderabad said the collaboration builds on Hexagon’s global academic engagements in deep technology and foundational sciences and will help raise India’s AI capabilities.IIIT Hyderabad director Prof Sandeep K Shukla said the partnership would provide access to advanced technologies and real-world spatial data, helping move research from laboratories to practical applications.Navaneet Mishra, senior vice president and head of Hexagon R&D India, said digitally representing the physical world was creating new possibilities across industries.Nora Hollenstein, VP, AI Hub at Hexagon AB, said the collaboration would help test ideas and develop real-world solutions through deeper applied research programmes.
