Chennai: Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) has signed a greenfield 176-key Gateway hotel in Tiruchirappalli, expanding its presence in Tamil Nadu.Located on the Grand Southern Trunk (GST) Road, the hotel will offer views of the Kaveri River, the Rockfort Temple, the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam and the Jambukeswara Temple at Thiruvanaikaval, said a statement.“As travel demand continues to grow beyond metros and Tier-1 cities, destinations such as Trichy are emerging as significant markets, supported by a diverse mix of business, education and religious travel,” said Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President, Real Estate & Development, IHCL.The property will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant and bar, a swimming pool, a gym, a health club, and a spa. It will also have more than 5,000 sq ft of banquet space, meeting rooms, and an acre of outdoor lawns for weddings, celebrations, and corporate events.The hotel is being developed in partnership with Try Alam Hotels. “The city continues to witness steady growth across industries, creating demand for hospitality infrastructure,” said A Bagurudeen of Try Alam Hotels.With this addition, IHCL’s portfolio in Tamil Nadu will increase to 33 hotels, including 14 under development.
