According to police, pilots Vishal Bhaskar and another officer detected the technical glitch around 9.05 am while flying the helicopter (ZA 1420) and safely landed it in a farmland at Keerapakkam, near Vandalur.

CHENNAI: An Indian Air Force (IAF) Chetak helicopter made an emergency landing in an agricultural field in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpattu district on Monday morning after developing a technical snag during a training sortie.According to police, pilots Vishal Bhaskar and another officer detected the technical glitch around 9.05 am while flying the helicopter (ZA 1420) and safely landed it in a farmland at Keerapakkam, near Vandalur.The pilots immediately alerted the Air Force Station in Tambaram. Three IAF helicopters later reached the site as part of the recovery operation, circling overhead before landing around 10 am to unload equipment required for repairs.After the technical issue was rectified, the helicopter took off from the site and returned safely to the Tambaram Air Force Station at around 11.45 am.Further investigation into the incident is underway.
