A Redditor who came back to India six months ago after spending years in the US shared the feeling of loneliness in India, even though he moved closer to his family and the relocation was also because of his family. While many such Reddit posts deal with job scenarios, weather, pollution, traffic and infrastructure issues in India and the US, this post went viral as it resonated with many who find it difficult after coming back to India — for no particular reason.“I’ve been back in India for about 6 months after spending a significant amount of time in the US, and honestly, I’m struggling more than I expected. I came back mainly because my parents were worried about me, and I also wanted to be closer to home and take care of myself. At the time, coming back felt like the right thing to do. But now I feel incredibly lonely,” the post said.The Redditor said old friends are busy with their own lives and don’t make an effort to meet. “I don’t really have friends here anymore. My old friends have their own lives now, and everyone seems busy. I’ve tried initiating plans and reaching out, but nobody has really made the effort to meet. I understand that people are busy and that life changes, but after repeatedly trying, it starts to feel like I’m the only one who cares about maintaining these friendships,” the post added.“Even my relationship with my brother feels different now. I thought coming home would make me feel closer to my family, but somehow I feel more disconnected than I expected,” it said.In contrast, the Redditor said that his life in the US has a routine, independence, peopl around him and a sense that he was moving forward.“I know I can’t go back and change the decision, and I don’t want to blame my parents either. They were genuinely worried about me and wanted me home.
