Vadodara: The Panigate police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against a man and his parents following the death of his wife at their residence in the city.The deceased, Mamatasinh Thakor, had complained of dizziness on May 9 and was taken to a private hospital, where she was declared brought dead. The hospital later advised that the body be shifted to SSG Hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. The autopsy was conducted on May 10.After the post-mortem, the deceased’s brother Vishwa Pratapsinh Singh lodged a complaint against her husband Ashutosh Thakore and his parents, Mukesh Thakore and Aarti Thakore.Singh, a native of Uttar Pradesh, alleged that his sister was subjected to harassment by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands of Rs 25 lakh. He claimed that cash and gold ornaments had already been given at the time of the marriage last year.He further alleged that the woman was under severe mental distress due to continued harassment.A case has been registered against the accused under provisions of abetment of suicide and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
