T’puram: The Humanitarian Atom Fest, organised by Consulate of Russia in Thiruvananthapuram in association with International Russophile Movement, concluded here with a series of programmes highlighting India-Russia cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.The festival was organised as part of celebrations marking the 55th anniversary of Indo-Soviet Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Cooperation, with a focus on the partnership between India and Russia in the civil nuclear energy sector.The festival was inaugurated with a seminar titled “Nuclear Energy for a Sustainable and Green Future.” A photo exhibition tracing the history and development of the Russian nuclear industry, a quiz and a round-table discussion were also held at Honorary Consulate of Russia.Former diplomat T P Sreenivasan inaugurated the closing ceremony. In his address, he described the Indo-Soviet Treaty as a milestone in the history of relations between India and the Soviet Union.M G Rajamanickam, chairperson and managing director of Kerala State Electricity Board, said nuclear energy would continue to be a dependable and sustainable source of power. He noted that the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies would significantly increase global energy requirements, making reliable and sustainable sources of energy increasingly important.
