Shimla: Himachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Saturday inaugurated the Rs 12.42 crore lift drinking water scheme for the Mata Shri Chintpurni temple area.The project will provide regular and clean drinking water to 19 villages across five panchayats, benefiting over 10,000 residents, 4,000 students, and thousands of annual devotees. Water was sourced from Kalruhi Khadd through a 17km pipeline, with three storage tanks and modern pumping machinery installed.

Agnihotri emphasised that the region had long awaited this project and congratulated the officials for completing it on schedule, ensuring a long-term solution for future water demand. He noted that Rs 150 crore worth of development works were ongoing in the Shri Chintpurni assembly constituency, and instructed swift execution of the Rs 4crore ‘Mata Ka Bagh’ drinking water scheme, targeting its completion within six months.The deputy chief minister also highlighted temple development, stating that Rs 130 crore was allocated for expansion and beautification, and directed rapid progress on the Rs 100 crore ropeway project. Water transport connectivity to Naina Devi temple is being explored to boost religious tourism.
