Fuel prices have once again come under pressure after a recent hike of Rs 3 per litre in petrol, diesel and CNG rates, pushing everyday transport and household fuel costs back into focus. The increase comes amid a sharp rally in global crude oil prices, driven by rising tensions in the Middle East. Brent crude, which had been hovering around the $70 per barrel mark, has surged beyond $100 as the ongoing conflict continues to strain global energy supplies and fuel market uncertainty.In India, the move also comes after a long period of stable fuel prices that had remained unchanged for nearly four years. However, after the war began, oil marketing companies were facing daily losses of around Rs 1,000 crore. CNG prices in your city

CNG prices have been revised twice within a week, first on Friday and again on Sunday, taking the total increase to Rs 3 per kg across networks.In the national capital, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) raised CNG prices for the second time in just three days. Sunday’s Re 1 per kg hike took the price from Rs 88.09 to Rs 89.09. This followed an earlier Rs 2 per kg increase on May 15, implemented alongside the petrol and diesel price revision. The successive hikes are likely to add pressure on freight and passenger fares in Delhi.

PNG price in your city

Prices of piped natural gas (PNG) have remained steady since April 1. The government has continously encouraged citizens to switch to PNG from LNG. Centre has asked ministries to evaluate the demand for PNG in canteens and pantries across government departments and offices, and to actively promote its wider use. Government establishments, residential colonies and canteens are being encouraged to move towards PNG, while city gas distribution (CGD) companies are being supported in expanding their networks. The overall push is aimed at cutting dependence on imported LPG in the long run.
