Srinagar, Aug 29: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness generally hot and humid weather over the coming days, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers expected at scattered to many places, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
The latest forecast issued by the weather department said that on August 29 and 30, weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with brief spells of rain or thundershowers likely at scattered places, mainly during the early morning and afternoon hours.
On August 31 and September 1, one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at many places. Brief intense or heavy showers are likely during the early morning and afternoon hours, particularly over a few districts of the Jammu division.
The weather is expected to turn generally dry from September 2 to 10, although brief spells of rain or thundershowers may occur at scattered places during the early morning and afternoon hours.
The Meteorological Centre has warned that brief intense showers over localised areas during August 31 and September 1-2 could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides.
Meanwhile, the department has advised farmers that they may continue with harvesting and other agricultural operations, subject to local weather conditions.
The latest forecast is broadly in line with the weather department’s ongoing assessment of hot and humid conditions across J&K, with intermittent rainfall expected over the coming days.
