Vadodara: Police have arrested the former chief executive officer of a city-based hospital for allegedly cheating the institution of Rs 28.47 crore by forging documents and manipulating financial records.The accused, Dr Santoshkumar Gadhvi, was held by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) from Ahmedabad after investigators received a tip-off about his whereabouts. A complaint in the case was lodged at the DCB police station last month by the hospital management.According to police, Gadhvi, a resident of Anand, was appointed as CEO in 2022 of Ward Wizard Medicare Hospital and was entrusted with key responsibilities, including the procurement of medical equipment and management of other assets. During an internal review conducted last year, the hospital management allegedly detected serious financial irregularities, following which a detailed inquiry was initiated.Investigators said Gadhvi is accused of forging documents, submitting false financial statements and opening bank accounts in fictitious names to siphon off funds. He is also alleged to have ordered outdated medical equipment for the hospital while misappropriating the remaining amount.
