Chandrapur/Nagpur: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday took a swipe at Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray over his ‘Ram Raksha’ agitation, saying he was glad that Thackeray has at last “remembered Ram”.Speaking to reporters in Chandrapur, Fadnavis welcomed the stir but turned it into a jibe at his former ally. “I am happy that Uddhav Thackeray has finally remembered Lord Ram. Our only expectation was that he should remember Ram,” Fadnavis said.He claimed Thackeray had abandoned the path of Ram, which was why his party has weakened. “If he walks the path of Ram, it will be good for him,” the chief minister said.Fadnavis added that his expectation was that Thackeray recite the Ram Raksha stotra once every day, “not just for today”. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday, had announced ‘Ram Raksha’ protest from July 5 over the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He had said that party workers would gather at a Hanuman temple in Dadar to recite Hanuman Chalisa before demanding that BJP take responsibility for the alleged theft. The alleged embezzlement came to light on June 7. An FIR was registered on June 25 after a preliminary report by a Special Investigation Team (SIT)set up by the Uttar Pradesh govt.Eight people linked to temple’s donation collection, counting have been held so far. Five of them have been seen in CCTV footage; some masking the coverage.
