Ahmedabad: A calendar discrepancy has put thousands of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) students in a fix, after the Semester 4 exams were scheduled on May 28, clashing with Bakri Eid celebrations. Although the state govt declared a public holiday for the festival on May 27, the actual moon sighting has shifted the observance by a day, prompting college associations to demand an immediate rescheduling of the exams.Several member colleges have backed the appeal, sending specific subject details to the university and urging an immediate revision of the timetable. The conflict extends beyond students. Govt employees tasked with exam duty and invigilation on May 28 will face similar logjams. With pressure mounting from both educational institutions and community leaders, the state authorities and GTU are being urged to quickly adjust the schedule to avoid widespread disruption.
