Hogan Lovells Cadwalader has appointed Adil Hussain, as partner, to strengthen its Banking & Loan Finance practice in the Middle East, with Hussain joining the firm’s Dubai office on September 1.
Hussain joins after serving as Baker McKenzie‘s Global Head of Islamic Finance and leading its Banking & Finance practice in the Middle East. His practice covers conventional and Shariah-compliant financing, as well as multi-sourced financing transactions across the Middle East and international markets.
“Clients operating in the Middle East increasingly require advice that combines local market knowledge with international reach. Hogan Lovells Cadwalader’s platform is exceptionally well positioned to meet those needs, and I am excited to join the team and contribute to the firm’s continued growth in the region,” said Hussain.
His experience spans the UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, where he has advised financial institutions, corporate borrowers and other market participants on financing transactions and the development of financing products, with a particular focus on Islamic finance.
“We are delighted to welcome Adil to the firm. He has been at the forefront of the Middle East financing market for many years, advising on some of the region’s most significant and innovative financing transactions. His arrival will further strengthen our global Banking & Loan Finance platform and enhance our ability to support clients on their most significant and complex transactions,” said James Doyle, Practice Group Leader, Corporate & Finance.
“The Middle East remains a strategically important market for the firm. Adil brings a wealth of experience from across the region, and his expertise and understanding of the regional market will be invaluable in helping clients navigate increasingly complex opportunities and challenges. We are delighted to welcome him as we continue to grow our finance capabilities across the region,” said Georgy Kalashnikov, Head of the Middle East region.
The appointment forms part of a broader expansion of the firm’s Corporate & Finance practice in the region. In recent months, Hogan Lovells Cadwalader has added M&A partners Simon Rahimzada and Vasi Papadopoulos and Private Equity & Funds partner Dounia Mansour in Dubai, along with M&A partner Walid Salib in Riyadh.
The latest hire also comes as law firms continue to build out their Middle East finance practices, particularly across banking, Islamic finance and cross-border transactions.
